The Story Behind Faithfold
God's Faithfulness
On October 16, 2004, the Lord set a series of events in motion to bring Faithfold, Inc. where it is today. During a typical Saturday morning breakfast between two friends, Ryan Bundra and Ken Primeau, an unusual idea emerged. When the bill came, Ken insisted on paying for the breakfast. To do so, he reached into his pocket and instead of pulling out his wallet, he revealed an old pocket Bible stuffed with money, credit cards, and IDs. Upon seeing the Bible being used as a makeshift wallet, Ryan Bundra, Ken's friend, asked permission to develop the idea into a marketable product. Ken agreed, simply saying, "When these are completed, just save one for me."
A few days later Ryan contacted his close friend, Tyler Borders, an Advertising major and Graphic Designer, for feedback on the idea of developing a "Bible-wallet." Unbeknownst to Ryan, for the past two years Tyler had been carrying a folded up piece of paper in his wallet containing the book of James. All at once, everything clicked. Extremely enthusiastic about the endeavor, Ryan and Tyler agreed to meet that same night. Viewing the concept as an incredible witnessing tool, the two friends embarked on the endeavor and under a blanket of prayer, the Faithfold™ began to take shape.
Originally planning to patent and sell the idea, the duo was unsure where to take the concept. The next two months found them designing prototypes, creating presentations, and cold-calling Bible companies for leads. After multiple rejections, a meeting was finally secured for January with a major Bible publisher.
Viewing the concept as an incredible witnessing tool, the two friends embarked on the endeavor and under a blanket of prayer, the Faithfold™ began to take shape.
Very enthused about the open door, the Faithfold™ was presented to the publisher, where it received warm feedback. Connecting the partners with a project planner, the publisher explored the benefits of the potential enterprise.
However, as God would have it, a very promising beginning began to look dismal. By May of 2005, the idea was stalled due to production costs and looked as though it would never see the light of day.
With hope at an all time low, God intervened. In June, a private investor suggested that the two developers launch the idea on their own. Keen on the idea, the new partnership began examining the venture. Realizing the strong potential the Faithfold offered for long-term impact and observing the response it received from focus groups, the new direction of the project was solidified.
Over the course of the following six months, designs were developed, tested, and refined. Although the road was at times bumpy and uncertain, pieces began falling into place as Ryan and Tyler pressed into the Lord for guidance and direction. The dream seemed to be coming to fruition.
In December, however, the duo faced yet another setback. Due to a lack of adequate funds the project met a short impasse. Always faithful, in January 2006, the Lord brought two more investors into the project who ultimately offered the money needed to get it off the ground.
Undertaking this project has been a continuing testimony of the faithfulness of the Lord. In times of both great trial and absolute peace God guided us each step along the way. Faithfold, Inc. is a small part of the testimony that He is writing in our lives.
Our prayer is that your Faithfold™ would serve you powerfully as the Lord writes a personal testimony in your life.
