Antique trephine, bone drill, brass surgeon’s tool medical curiosity

This listing is for an antique trephine drill. Possibly from the Civil War era, it appears to be made of steel with a brass handle and collar. In my research some examples with this design are marked Supreme on the handle but this one has no markings.  It measures 4 ¾” x 2 ¾”, the collar is 1 ⅜” diameter. The drill is heavy and weighs 6.1oz. There is wear and discoloration from age and use.
