A antique medical Civil War surgeons trocar & with cannula instrument. Old ebony wood handle and Sterling silver sheathed cannula. Ebony handle has a sterling collar and straight steel shaft and sharp point. Instrument dates c1860. The trocar was used to relieve pressure build up of fluids (edema or gasses, bloat) for procedures requiring the aspiration of fluids from. Amity or cyst. Instrument has a wonderful old finish and patina. Showing nice age and history. Excellent condition, no cracks, chips, clean cannula, sharp point.
