    Antique Medical surgeons obstetrical instrument ecraseur tool dating c1870, post Civil War. Surgical instruments used to encircle and amputate (sever a projecting mass or tissue, tumor). Wonderful polished steel, silver finish brass handle showing old age and history. By gradual turning of the handle which turns the worm gear drawing the loop in and decapitating the tumor.
